Foods that may accelerate ageing

Aging happens to all of us, of course. There’s no way to put the brakes on it, no matter what the latest "Beauty products" may claim. But an unhealthy diet can send your aging process into overdrive, leaving you looking years older than your real age. There’s an incredible amount of evidence that says that eating junk puts your body into an inflammatory state.
Too much sugar and processed carbohydrates, poor quality Trans fats in the diet can lead to the production of what are called AGEs Advanced Glycation End products. “These are associated with a number of diseases, like heart disease and diabetes, but they also damage the collagen and fibers of your skin."

A few examples:

  • Trans fat laden - Fried potato chips and French fries, Confectionery items Keep trans fat to less than 1%of your diet
  • Doughnuts and sugary pastries. They’re high in trans fats and of course they’re packed with sugar, which is also linked with inflammation. plus they produce those wrinkle-causing AGEs
  • Processed Meat like Hot dogs, bacon, and pepperoni (even in your pizza toppings)They’re high in saturated fats and also contain nitrates, both of which contribute to the inflammatory process.
  • Saturated Fats  Cream, Cheese, Butter , Ghee, Fatty meats, chocolates and Prepared foods  -Fats are no friend of your arteries. The American Heart Association suggests that you keep saturated fats from all sources  to less than 7% of your daily calorie intake.
  • Alcohol. Some alcohol may be good for you, but too much can absolutely age you prematurely.
Forget about Anti-aging creams just make a few healthychanges in your diet and look forward to grow old, wise and audacious..

Cellphone may make you unsociable..

Even though cell phones are generally thought to connect people with each other, they may make users less socially minded is what was found in a recent study from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. It also decreases pro-social behavior, which means wanting to act in order to benefit another person or society as a whole
The study involved separate sets of male and female college students, who were mostly in their early 20s.Their findings revealed that participants were less likely to volunteer for a community service despite knowing their answers would result in a monetary donation to charity, when asked after a short period of using their cell phone, than those in the control-group.
According to researchers  "The cell phone directly evokes feelings of connectivity to others, thereby fulfilling the basic human need to belong."
This leads to a lower desire to connect with others or to be empathic towards others.

  • Hot peppers  It contain a flavorless compound called capsaicin. It also occurs in jalapenos. This compound appears to curb appetite and speed up the metabolism slightly, but only for a short time.Spicy foods contain chemical compounds that kick the metabolism into high gear. Also as we all know people tend to eat less when their food is spicy :)
  • Nuts are an excellent way to curb hunger between meals. They're high in protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats. Studies suggest nuts can promote weight loss and improve cholesterol levels when eaten in moderation.

Fat-Fighting Foods

Want to increase your body's fat-burning power?
Opt for these good-for-you food.

  • Eggs Studies suggest eating protein in the morning will keep your hunger at bay longer than eating carbs. One egg has only 75 calories but packs 7 grams of high-quality protein, along with other vital nutrients.Vegetarian should drink milk."Protein takes longer to leave the stomach and hence keep your appetite satisfied for longer." Hence your body will burn more calories digesting eggs(Proteins) than a carb-heavy breakfast.
  • Skim milk provides plenty of protein and calcium with none of the fat found in whole milk. And even though it's fat-free, skim milk can help you feel full. There's also evidence that skim milk and other nonfat dairy foods may promote weight loss, particularly around the mid-section.
  • Beans They're a vegetable, a protein, and a great source of fiber. This means they'll help you stay full for the price of very few calories.
  • Oatmeal  It has  fiber-rich whole-grain oats, lots of water, and it's hot.Hot food takes longer to eat, and all that liquid and fiber will help you feel full longer.
  • Cinnamon Stir some into your coffee, tea, or yogurt to add sweetness without adding calories.Studies suggest cinnamon may have a stabilizing effect on blood sugar levels. This could curtail appetite, particularly in people with type 2 diabetes.
  • Whole-grain rye crackers, sometimes called crispbreads, offer a low-fat, fiber-packed alternative to traditional crackers. Research suggests people who replace refined grains with whole grains tend to have less belly fat.
  • Soup Remember we're not talking about creamy soup.A soup is a dieter's friend in several ways. It's full of water, which fills you up with the fewest possible calories.Since soup is hot, it prevents you from guzzling it down too quickly. When eaten before a meal, soup can take up space that might have gone to higher calorie food.

  • Salad Another way to fill up before a meal is by eating salad. Lettuce has plenty of water content to take up space in the stomach. That leaves less room for fattier foods that might come later in the meal. Make your salad interesting by adding a variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Coffee Yes, one of your favorite beverages may actually help accelerate the metabolism and help you lose weight.Coffee does stimulate the metabolism a little but don't substitute it for cappuccino.

Never Sleep Angry..

A man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green.
The old anecdotal saying that you should never go to sleep angry just got backed up by science, thanks to University of Massachusetts Amherst neuroscientists. Their study concludes that if you have a negative emotional response—their examples were for viewing an unsettling picture or experiencing a traumatic event—the response is reduced if you stay awake afterwards.
The scientists pointed to PTSD sufferers, or witnesses to accidents as examples of how their conclusion is applicable in practical terms. If a witness to a gruesome accident remains awake after the event, the next time they see a reproduction or photograph of the scene, their emotional response will be much lower than if they had slept right after. Researchers even said that their brains are actually averse to going to sleep, as a defense mechanism. In their experiments involving 68 healthy female and 38 male (total 106) young adults between 18 and 30 years old, Spencer and colleagues set out to explore, among other ideas, an assumption that the well-known enhancement of memory that occurs during sleep is tied to a change in emotional response to the memory.
Study that included polysomnography, neuroscientists at UMass Amherst, suggests that emotional memories are protected by the brain during sleep. The study is reported in the January issue of the Journal of Neuroscience.http://www.jneurosci.org
Any negative emotion, like an argument with a spouse or a disagreement at work can cause negative emotions. The study points to the practice that you should try to resolve these feelings before you go to sleep so that you can have a less visceral reaction to the problem in the morning.
